Nasi Ambang A.B. Rahmat, Johor Bahru (14 September, 2016)
Nasi Ambang A.B. Rahmat (GPS: 1.48705, 103.76806) is a popular nasi ambang stall in Johor Bahru. It is the front stall at Taman Sri Tebrau Market. If you visit this market, you will see that there are many stalls selling Nasi Ambang, but A.B. Rahmat is the most popular among them. I have only been here once, and have only tasted A.B. Rahmat's, so don't take my word as I have no chance for a comparison.
What is Nasi Ambang? Also written nasi ambeng in Bahasa Indonesia, it is a set lunch meal of fragrant rice with a number of items, of which the chicken is de rigueur. Other items include boiled egg, bergedel, rempeyek, rendang and urap.
I arrived at the A.B. Rahmat stall at 11:15am in the morning, and had to wait a little bit before the getting my nasi ambang. The workers were busy putting out various dishes. I saw deep-fried anchovies, serunding, chicken in dry curry, and other stuff. I was lucky to be a little earlier than the rest of the lunch crowd, for after I had taken my fill, the queue started to form.

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
