Pontian District is a district in Johor. It is located on the southwestern part of the state. The district centre is Pontian Kechil, often just called Pontian Kechil.

Pontian is a rural district where the main activity is fishing and agriculture. Pekan Nanas is in the pineapple growing heartland of Johor. Along the coast are Malay villages. Kukup, near the bottom of the district is a major Chinese fishing village. At the tip of the district is Tanjung Piai, a mangrove area which is also the southernmost tip of mainland Asia.
