Muzium Bugis, Kampung Rambah, Johor (15 September 2016)
Muzium Bugis (GPS: 1.42807, 103.41174) is a museum in Kampung Rambah, in Pontian, Johor. The museum provides an insight into the history of the local Malays who are of Bugis descent. The Bugis people originated from Sulawesi. They arrived in the Malay peninsula for hundreds of years, some as warriors and mercenaries hired by the local rulers and chieftains to settle scores.
Muzium Bugis began as a privately created museum in 1982 by Abdullah Bin Ahmad to display historical artifacts related to the Bugis. This includes Bugis weaponry and attire as well as their everyday and sacred objects. The museum has since been expanded into a 2-storey building with exhibition space and room for presentations.
I had the pleasure of meeting Mr Abdullah Bin Ahmad, the founder of the museum, during my visit to Muzium Bugis. Regretfully, three years after my visit, Mr Abdullah passed away1 from a heart attack on 28 November, 2019.

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
