Bedong, Kedah (25 July, 2015)

Bedong (GPS: 5.72753, 100.50653) is a small town in Kedah. It is located in Kuala Muda District, to the north of Sungai Petani, and is considered the gateway to Bujang Valley and Gunung Jerai.

I passed through Bedong on my way from Gunung Jerai to the Bujang Valley. I found it to be just a small town comprising a cluster of pre-war shophouses. I took some photos, and stirred the attention of a roadside hawker, who demanded to know what I was up to. I told him I am documenting the town for a travel guide.

Getting there

Exit the North-South Expressway at either the Gurun Interchange (Exit 173) or Sungai Petani North Interchange (Exit 170), then take Federal Route 1, the old trunk road, to reach Bedong.
