Kemunting Lake View Restaurant 甘文丁湖上美食馆 is a seafood restaurant in Karangan, near Kulim, Kedah. It is built on a platform over the man-made lake. The scenery here is quite nice, as the restaurant is surrounded by the lake, with mountain views all around.

We ordered several fish dishes. We ordered the steamed catfish and in sweet-and-sour tilapia. I have to say that the freshwater fish taste a bit "earthy". I think these two dishes are the specialties here, for I saw almost every table ordering more or less the same thing. Ordering is made easy as the menu is posted on a board, so you just need to point to what you want. In addition to fish, there is also edible paddy frog, which can be prepared in sweet-and-sour sauce, or deepfried, and venison. Among the vegetable dishes include stir-fried bean sprout, lettuce in oil, spicy kangkung, spicy sweet potato leaves and clear fried vegetables.

The catfish is breed directly from the lake below, and caught when ordered. So they are as fresh as it gets.

How to go to Kemunting Lake View Restaurant

The restaurant is located by a manmade off Jalan Karangan-Mahang. You turn off the main road at Kampung Baru Karangan. It is on the same route that goes to the Ulu Paip Recreational Forest. The turn off is shown in street view below.
