Pulau Sayak (GPS: 5.66062, 100.33421) is a fishing village in southern
Kedah. It is a promontory located on the southern bank of the
Sungai Merbok estuary. The village gets its name from the eponymous island that punctuates the very tip of the promontory. Pulau Sayak is located to the east of the popular seaside of
Pantai Merdeka. In comparison, the area is quiet. A local resort, Tanjung View Resort, is located here, and appears in want of repair.
The coastline of Pulau Sayak is beautiful. The beach is sandy, and lined with coconut trees, giving it the quintessential tropical appearance. You can see Pulau Sayak the island off the coast. On the northern side is the fishing village Pulau Sayak. The coastline here is rocky, with rock formations similar to those at
Pulau Kendi in Penang. Over here, the fishermen go about their day with little regard to time.
