Langkawi International Airport (IATA: LGK; GPS: 6.34257, 99.73178) is the airport for the holiday destination of Langkawi, Kedah. It has a 3.8 km runway that allows it to accept wide-bodied aircrafts. The airport receives regular flights by AirAsia (Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Singapore), Malaysia Airlines (Kuala Lumpur), Firefly (Penang, Kota Bharu, Subang), Malindo Airlines (KLIA, Subang), Tiger Airways (Singapore) and SilkAir (Singapore) connecting it with Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Singapore. The airport registered 1.2 million passenger movements in 2008 and 1.54 million passenger movements in 2009.
Langkawi International Airport is the venue for LIMA, the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition, an expo for the aviation and maritime industry. The exhibition is held at the Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre, a facility on the southern part of the airport.
Langkawi International Airport has a main hall which serves both Arrivals and Departures. Arriving passengers enter the hall on the right side while departing passengers approaches the gates from the left side.

Arriving at Langkawi International Airport
The procedures at Langkawi International Airport is quite straightforward, and similar to other airports. If you are arriving on an international flight, you will need to first clear customs. Otherwise, after retrieving your luggage, you pass through the baggage check and you are out into the Arrival Hall.
Parking at Langkawi International Airport
As of September 2018, the parking rate is RM2.00 for the first hour or part thereof, and RM1.00 for each subsequent hour, up to RM10.00. Penalty for lost of parking card is RM50.00. Payment should be made at the autopay machine which is located just outside the terminal building. Upon payment, exit the car park within 10 minutes.
Updates on Langkawi International Airport
6 September, 2018 StarMetro reports that the terminal expansion project of the Langkawi International Airport was completed ahead of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Travel Mart, which will happen in Langkawi from 12 to 14 September, 2018. The expansion has increated the total gross floor area of the terminal building from 15,000 sqm to 23,000 sqm. This increases the airport's capacity from 1.5 million passengers to 4 million.
