Ayer Hangat Village, Langkawi

Ayer Hangat Village, LangkawiAyer Hangat Village, Langkawi (8 September, 2018)

Ayer Hangat Village (GPS: 6.42293, 99.81363) is a hot spring in the northeastern part of Pulau Langkawi. It was formerly known as Telaga Ayer Hangat. Ayer Hangat Village is located about 14 kilometers outside of Kuah Town. It has since been redeveloped into a new entertainment complex that covers some four acres. The villagers of Langkawi recounted a story of a quarrel that erupted during the wedding feast of two giants, resulting in the spilling of hot water that created the hot springs. It is the same legend that also created other places in the Langkawi Archipelago including Kuah and Belanga Pecah.

The humble hot springs, from which the place got its name, has been renovated into a 3-tier hot-spring fountain, complete with an 18 meter hand-carved riverstone mural depicting the legends of Ayer Hangat Village. Entertainment programme at Ayer Hangat Village includes Malaysian and ASEAN cultural dances and traditional sports and games, live displays of Malaysian/ASEAN customs, Malay folk and classical dances and demonstrations of traditional Malay art and crafts such as batik-painting, congkat playing and foot massage.

Ayer Hangat Village also offers a selection of duty-free shopping, as well as Malaysian, Thai, and Indonesian cuisine served in its on-site theatre restaurant. Ayer Hangat Village is open from 10 am to 10pm daily.

Photos from my 2018 visit to Ayer Hangat Village

On my 2018 visit to Langkawi, I only pass by Ayer Hangat Village without stopping. It was a wet day, and the overcast sky does not offer good photos anyway.

About this website

Dear visitor, thank you so much for reading this page. My name is Timothy Tye and my hobby is to find out about places, write about them and share the information with you on this website. I have been writing this site since 5 January 2003. Originally (from 2003 until 2009, the site was called AsiaExplorers. I changed the name to Penang Travel Tips in 2009, even though I describe more than just Penang but everywhere I go (I often need to tell people that "Penang Travel Tips" is not just information about Penang, but information written in Penang), especially places in Malaysia and Singapore, and in all the years since 2003, I have described over 20,000 places.

While I try my best to provide you information as accurate as I can get it to be, I do apologize for any errors and for outdated information which I am unaware. Nevertheless, I hope that what I have described here will be useful to you.
