Langkawi Sunset Cruise was one of the activities that my wife and I engaged in during our recent visit to Langkawi on 7-11 September, 2018. We were most grateful to the tour operator, Tropical Charters, to offer us the opportunity to try out this cruise.
We hailed a Grab ride from where we were staying, Bon Ton Resort, to the pier at Resort World Marina, arriving just before 4:30pm, to sign in for the cruise. As we were still a bit early, we walked about to enjoy the view from the broadwalk at the marina. The weather was good - it had been raining for the past two days, and there have been heavy downpours during the morning part of the day, so I was a bit concerned whether this would affect our trip. But as it turn out, the evening sun was shining, and the sky was clear.
We were led down the pier to our boat. The Sunset Cruise is usual an orange catamaran which is quite easy to identify (as all the yachts in the marina are white in colour). Before climbing on board, we deposit our shoes in the prepared baskets. This is, to me a very good idea. That way, we don't have to worry about our shoes dropping into the sea. They would only be returned to us when we returned to land afterwards.

The boat has two levels. We quickly chose our seats facing the front. During the cruise, we have free flow of soft drinks as well as beer and wines. Among the guests on this trip included a group of people on a company trip.
Leaving the marine, our catamaran cruised into the open sea. It made a stop in the open sea where we were surrounded by Langkawi Island in the north, Pulau Dayang Bunting in the south, and Pulau Singa Besar in the southwest. There, people who want to go for a dip in the sea may do so. We didn't bring along our swimming costumes so we stayed up on the deck.
There is a section of the boat where you can reenact the scene from Titanic. It's at bow, where you can stand holding the railing on both sides!

It was a gorgeous evening, so different from the early part of the day, which had been so wet. Now the sun was shining, enabling me to take nice shots of the surrounding islands for my website.
Dinner was buffet style. As far as buffets go, it is a simple fare - there's prawns, vegetables, chicken, satay among others. It is a wonderful feeling to have your meal while enjoying the sea breeze on such a fine evening.

After our dinner, we cruised along, enjoying the breeze while waiting for sunset. It was quite a fine sunset that evening. The direction of the sunset was between the Pulau Langkawi and Pulau Kentut Besar.

It was such a romantic feel, for my wife and I, to enjoy the sunset together. It wasn't the nicest sunsets from this trip (we were to get a fantastic one the next day), but it was much better than having rain again. We were both pleased to have enjoyed the experience.

Very soon it was time to head for home. By then, the sky was darkening. When we got back to Resorts World Langkawi, the lights were all on.

My wife and I wish to thank Tropical Charters for having sponsored us this cruise trip. It was a lovely experience for the both of us.

Dear visitor, thank you so much for reading this page. My name is Timothy Tye and my hobby is to find out about places, write about them and share the information with you on this website. I have been writing this site since 5 January 2003. Originally (from 2003 until 2009, the site was called AsiaExplorers. I changed the name to Penang Travel Tips in 2009, even though I describe more than just Penang but everywhere I go (I often need to tell people that "Penang Travel Tips" is not just information about Penang, but information written in Penang), especially places in Malaysia and Singapore, and in all the years since 2003, I have described over 20,000 places.
While I try my best to provide you information as accurate as I can get it to be, I do apologize for any errors and for outdated information which I am unaware. Nevertheless, I hope that what I have described here will be useful to you.
