Padang Matsirat Night Market (GPS: 6.35378, 99.73017) is one of five night markets that take place at various locations in Langkawi. This one at Padang Matsirat is held every Sunday. It occupies a site off Jalan Lapangan Terbang, at the parking lot of the historic Beras Terbakar site. As night falls, the parking lot turns into a large night market area.
The Padang Matsirat Night Market is a place where tourists get to observe the locals go about their daily lives. It is also a good place to shop for local delicacies, from local snacks to fruits. There are sections for food and another for clothings and toys.
My wife and I visited the Padang Matsirat Night Market together with four other bloggers when we were staying at Temple Tree at Bon Ton. We were brought to the night market by the resort manager Mr Amir to give us a taste of local life in Langkawi. We bought some fruits called bidara and ten sticks of satay, which we brought back to our hotel suite to enjoy. The satay stall was doing very good business, and we had to queue a bit before we got to buy ours. The area was congested with shoppers and tourists. Mr Amir packed the car in the parking spot of Sekolah Kebangsaan Padang Matsirat across the road.
Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
