Pulau Gubang Darat is an island on the southwestern part of
Pulau Dayang Bunting. It is to the south of Teluk Dayang Bunting. There are two islands by this name. Pulau Gubang Darat is located closer to shore while
Pulau Gubang Laut is farther offshore. Both are forested island that are uninhabited.
To the south of Pulau Gubang Darat are many more rocky islets that jut out of the sea. Among these are
Pulau Puchong,
Pulau Tajai,
Pulau Ketumbu,
Pulau Balar,
Pulau Batang,
Pulau Selat Riang Riang and
Pulau Ujong Buloh.
The word "gubang" can refer to two things. It is either a sailing boat which is between 20-25 feet in length, or steps chiseled to the trunk of a tree to assist climbing.
