Pulau Rebak, Langkawi (6 June, 2005)
Pulau Rebak Besar (GPS: 6.29635, 99.69526) is the biggest island on the west coast of
Pulau Langkawi. It is located off the shore of
Pantai Cenang, and is one of a pair of islands with the smaller
Pulau Rebak Kecil. It was named after the
rebab, a Malay percussion instrument, albeit with a slight change in spelling.
The island has a lake in the middle which has been made into a lagoon by opening it to the sea on the southward side. A resort called the Rebak Island Resort has been developed around the lagoon. There is also a marina for yachts and sail boats here.
Apart from the central lagoon, Pulau Rebak Besar has several stretches of sandy beach, some natural, some man-made.
