Telaga Harbour Park, Langkawi (4 June, 2005)
Telaga Harbour Park (GPS: 6.36833, 99.68215) at
Pantai Kok, a stone's throw from
Langkawi International Airport, is the government's vision of turning Pulau Langkawi into a major sailing and yacht destination. This 32-hectare development was built in the Mediterranean style - it resembles a chunk of the French Riviera transported to the tropics - the Telaga Harbour Park has berthing facilities for 52 yachts of up to 20 meters, and 7 mega yachts of 30-50 meters. There is also a 36-m pontoon for fishing boats.
The marina at Telaga Harbour Park is the fourth marina in Langkawi. The project consultant was Datuk Azhar Mansor, the first Malaysian to sail solo around the world. The project cost RM40 million.
