Lata Lembu Recreational Forest, Kedah

Lata Lembu Recreational Forest is a protected forest in Sik District, Kedah. It is 16 km from the town of Sik. The forest is quite remote, as there is no access road for vehicular traffic. Entering it involves making a 5-km track through the jungle from Lata Mengkuang.

The Lata Lembu recreational forest is a favourite spot for camping and bird watching. It is located at an elevation of between 400-500 meters above sea level, and is covered with highland dipterocarp forest.

Lata Lembu is also the name of the waterfall in the forest. It is 30 meters in height, and cascades over the rocks to a picnic spot at the bottom. The site got its name from a rock formation at the bottom of the waterfall that resembles a cow.

Getting there

Exit the North-South Expressway at the Gurun Interchange, Exit 173. Take State Route K10. Pass Sik town. Thereafter pass Peranginan Sik Recreational Forest. Lata Mengkuang Recreational Forest is on your left. To reach Lata Lembu, park at Lata Mengkuang and track 5-km through the forest path.

About this website

Dear visitor, thank you so much for reading this page. My name is Timothy Tye and my hobby is to find out about places, write about them and share the information with you on this website. I have been writing this site since 5 January 2003. Originally (from 2003 until 2009, the site was called AsiaExplorers. I changed the name to Penang Travel Tips in 2009, even though I describe more than just Penang but everywhere I go (I often need to tell people that "Penang Travel Tips" is not just information about Penang, but information written in Penang), especially places in Malaysia and Singapore, and in all the years since 2003, I have described over 20,000 places.

While I try my best to provide you information as accurate as I can get it to be, I do apologize for any errors and for outdated information which I am unaware. Nevertheless, I hope that what I have described here will be useful to you.
