Tan Kee Roasted Duck Restaurant is a local institution for Lunas, Kedah. Most visitors to that town usually stop there for their meal, and many even make the trip to Lunas simply to eat the roasted duck.

It has been many years since we last paid a visit to Tan Kee Roasted Duck Restaurant, so when we made a recent trip to Lunas, decided to stop by for our lunch. We thought were quite early, arriving around 10:55 am, but as we soon discover, the restaurant opens for business at 9:30 am in the morning, and operates for the whole day until 8:00 pm at night.

As we were quite early, many of the tables were still empty (the next day, we came one more time, around lunch time, and this time, the restaurant was packed). For our lunch, we ordered half a duck, plus the kiam3chye1boey4 and the oily vegetables. After years of not eating the Tan Kee roasted duck, we enjoyed it very much. We found that the duck is meaty (unlike duck we get back in Penang, which is often quite skinny). We also learned that the whole duck cost only RM30 (as of July, 2015), which is still a very good price compared to Penang.

The kiam3chye1boey4 is quite okay, but we didn't care much for the oily vegetable. We regreted ordering it, and decided we would order something different on our next visit.

About this website

Dear visitor, thank you so much for reading this page. My name is Timothy Tye and my hobby is to find out about places, write about them and share the information with you on this website. I have been writing this site since 5 January 2003. Originally (from 2003 until 2009, the site was called AsiaExplorers. I changed the name to Penang Travel Tips in 2009, even though I describe more than just Penang but everywhere I go (I often need to tell people that "Penang Travel Tips" is not just information about Penang, but information written in Penang), especially places in Malaysia and Singapore, and in all the years since 2003, I have described over 20,000 places.

While I try my best to provide you information as accurate as I can get it to be, I do apologize for any errors and for outdated information which I am unaware. Nevertheless, I hope that what I have described here will be useful to you.
