The Sungai Petani Railway Station (GPS: 5.64302, 100.48975) is located off Jalan Ibrahim in Sungai Petani, Kedah. The entrance to the station is in front of Sungai Petani Clock Tower. The present station was built in 2013 in anticipation of the KTM Electric Train Service which began on 11 July, 2015.

The Sungai Petani Railway Station has two side platforms. It is served by the KTM Intercity service between the Bukit Mertajam Railway Station in the south and Gurun Railway Station in the north. On the KTM ETS service, it is between the Tasek Gelugor Railway Station and Gurun Railway Station.

Train services to the Sungai Petani Railway Station

The Sungai Petani Railway Station receives the following electric train services (as of 1 Sept 2015):

  1. EG9208 from KL Sentral, departing at 9:30 am, Ipoh at 11:39 am, Taiping at 12:24 pm, Butterworth at 1:28 pm and arriving in Sungai Petani at 1:57 pm.
  2. EG9500 from Ipoh, departing Ipoh at 6:00 am, Taiping at 6:50 am, Butterworth at 8:03 am and arriving in Sungai Petani at 8:32 am.
  3. EG9209 from Padang Besar, departing at 4:00 pm, Alor Setar at 4:31 pm and arriving in Sungai Petani at 4:56 pm.
  4. EG9501 from Padang Besar, departing at 2:30 pm, Alor Setar at 3:10 pm and arriving in Sungai Petani at 3:43 pm.
