My wife and I joined a group of bloggers for a vacation at Cinta Sayang Resort on 17-19 February, 2017. There were 46 of us including children. Forty of us drove to the resort while six of us (including my wife and me) took the van from the Penang International Airport. We arrived on the afternoon of Friday, 17 February, where we were warmly greeted by the hotel team including the Director of Sales Miss Suria Ismail, Marketing Manager Miss Nur Nasuha Bt. Musa and Executive Assistant Manager Mr Azhar Ramli.

After some snacks and a welcome drink, we collected our room keys and checked into our chalet. The chalet is cosily furnished. It has two single beds side by side. The recurring theme of the deco is horses, with stencils of horses on one wall and a rainbow-coloured zebra on another.

Our chalet was equipped with a flatscreen wall TV. There were coffee- and tea-making facilities, while the spacious bathroom has a shower cubicle. We found out later that our chalet was among those that have been recently renovated. No wonder everything looked so new from the inside. Cinta Sayang Resort, we learned, has been around for over two decades. It is presently undertaking renovation and upgrading of its facilities phase by phase.
We rested for a while in our room, and then I decided to go for a swim.
The swimming pool at Cinta Sayang Resort is just next to the gymnasium. There were originally three swimming pools, but probably due to the renovation work, only one of the pools is open use.
My wife joined me at the pool. She wanted to learn to swim, so I attempted to teach her. But I am not much of a swimming teacher, so at the end of it, she made no gains in learning to swim.

We returned to our chalet for a short rest and sleep, then got ready for dinner.
Dinner that evening was at CS Cafe, the main indoor restaurant at Cinta Sayang Resort. We had pre-ordered our dinner, which comprised a soup, an appetizer, a main course and a dessert. The portions were massive (and a bit slow to arrive). When I received my appetizer, I thought it was the main course. Only when I have finished it (and feeling very full) did I realise that the main course was yet to come.
I had the Oxtail Soup, Smoked Salmon with Feta Cheese, Grilled Seabass and Chocolate Brownie while my wife had the Seafood Soup, Smoked Salmon with Feta Cheese, Pan-Fried Salmon and Cheese Cake. To ensure we were served the right item, our meal order was painstakingly 2printed on small cards with our names on them. Before the dessert could arrive, we felt that it was getting very late, so we decided to have our dessert to go.
We returned to our chalet, exhausted from the long day, and promptly fell asleep.
The next morning, Saturday 18 February, we started the day with buffet breakfast at CS Cafe. Breakfast was nice. I burned by toast, but other than that, everything was tasty and the variety was good.

After the meal, my wife and I went for an short walk to admire the beautiful golf course at Cinta Sayang Resort. Then we all gathered together for the group shot in front of the Cinta Sayang Resort main building.

After our group shot, we went for our golf lesson. We were split into two groups, so that the instructors can more easily brief us. Across the road from the Cinta Sayang main building is the Mizuno Golf School. We learned that some of the young golfers at the resort held world rankings.

After our golf lesson, we returned to Cinta Sayang Resort main building, so that the resort people can show us around. Once again, we were split into two groups. One group toured the golf course while another group toured the facilities indoors, and then we switched.
The golf course at Cinta Sayang Resort is absolutely gorgeous. It is beautifully landscaped, with lake in the middle, and the scenery is completed with the majestic peak of Gunung Jerai in the distance.

I joined the group that toured the golf course first. We were taken on buggies down the greens. When we returned, the other group switched with us, and we were taken indoors to the the banquet hall, conference rooms and squash courts. The squash courts would soon be renovated. What we saw was just before the renovation.
The function facilities include one large grand ballroom, one smaller ballroom and four conference rooms of various sizes.

And then, before we know it, it's meal time once again. It was a set lunch. I had Smoked Salmon Salad and Grilled Beef Tenderloin. The portions were big, but waiting time between servings was slow (something which we fedback to the restaurant to take note).

After lunch, we had but a very short rest (due to lunch being so extended), before we had to get ready for the next activity, which was, a visit to the water theme park The Carnivall. I shall describe that visit separately.
Dinner that evening was steamboat buffet. For once, we get to eat all items on time, as we cooked them ourselves. There was a live band providing entertainment for the evening, and during the request, I suggested a P. Ramlee song. The band decided to play for us the theme song from the comedy Madu Tiga.

The next day, after our breakfast, I had the chance to go for another swim at the resort swimming pool. Then it was time to pack up for the van to fetch the six of our on our journey to Kuala Kedah, where we board the ferry for Langkawi. I will describe our trip to Langkawi separately.
I want to take this opportunity to thank the entire team at Cinta Sayang Resort who have shown us wonderful hospitality throughout our stay.

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
