Masjid Sultan Muzaffar Shah, Sungai Petani (23 August, 2015)
Masjid Sultan Muzaffar Shah (GPS: 5.64716, 100.4877) is a mosque in
Sungai Petani, Kedah. The mosque is located along Jalan Sungai Layar. Based on its name, the mosque could have been named after one of three past rulers of Kedah, either Sultan Mudzaffar Shah III (1546-1602), Sultan Mudzaffar Shah II (1236-1280) or Sultan Mudzafar Shah I (1136-1179).
The likelihood is that he was named after Sultan Mudzafar Shah I, who was known as Sri Paduka Maharaja Durbar Raja II until his conversion to Islam and adopting the name Mudzafar Shah, whereupon establishing the Sultanate of Kedah which exists till this day.
