Rumpun Mambu (GPS: 5.683754, 100.361050) is a Malay seaside restaurant in Tanjung Dawai, Kedah. It sells Malay dishes including various types of fried rice and fried noodles.
My wife and I had our dinner at this restaurant when we explored Tanjung Dawai. We arrived at the seaside in the early evening, and saw that the area has turned into a big pasar malam. There was quite a lot of people around, though mostly local Malays.
Here I am at Rumpun Mambu. After this shot was taken, we jumped up because we discovered a horde of black ants suddenly coming out from the ground. We must have disturbed their nest. (25 July, 2015)
We looked around for a place to eat and saw that Rumpun Mambu is just about one of the few restaurants in the area. Service was quick. As soon as we sat down, the waiter came over to take our order. But after giving our order, we discovered that we have to move to another table. The reason is, that table was under a tree trunk, and suddenly a horde of black ants erupted out of the ground!
We then shared a table with another family who had just finished eating. We ordered nasi goreng pattaya and nasi goreng biasa and mee udang. The portions were a bit small. The prawns were large, and surprisingly not as fresh as we would expect (from a seaside place). But other than that, it was quite tasty, and so we still enjoyed the dinner.
Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
