Kopitiam Kita (GPS: 6.12949, 102.24954) is a very popular coffee shop in Kota Bharu, Kelantan. It is located on Jalan Sri Cemerlang 14/27, off Jalan Pengkalan Chepa.
Every morning, the road outside Kopitiam Kita is jammed pack with cars, as the locals descend on the coffee shop for their breakfast. Kopitiam Kita is huge. It has three large dining halls. And yet, when breakfast is in full swing, the whole coffee shop is jam packed. It almost make you think that there isn't any other coffee shop in Kota Bharu! If you do not make your way to the kopitiam in the early morning, you would be hard pressed to get your own table, and may often have to share table with other diners.

Most of the patrons of Kopitiam Kita are Malays, and yet, ironically, the coffee shop was established by a Chinese. Actually, I thought he was a Malay (he looked so Malay to me), but as it turned out, his name is Mr Wong.
Mr Wong has rubbed shoulders with local celebrities and royalties who all made a beeline for his coffee shop should they visit Kota Bharu. As a result, the walls of his coffee shop is papered with photographs of countless celebrities. Among the who's who that have visited Kopitiam Kita included travel writer Paul Theroux and Malaysian songbird Dato' Siti Nurhaliza. Despite his fame, Mr Wong was a very friendly man. As soon as he saw that I am not local, he came over to our table to introduce himself to us.
The pièce de résistance at Kopitiam Kita is Roti Titab. This is a thick piece of toast topped with a half-boiled egg in the middle, with dollops of kaya at each corner.

Ordering food at Kopitiam Kita is partly self-service and partly à la carte. For drinks and toasts, you need to hail one of the passing waiters to take your order. Apart from that, lined up along the wall is a plethora of food items. These are local packed food from different places in Kota Bharu and its surroundings. Therefore, Kopitiam Kita serves as a one-stop food centre to enjoy the cuisine from different Kelantan villages. It's no coincidence then that it brands itself the place to get everything under one roof. There are so many things to choose from, just take a look:

We visited Kopitiam Kita three times during our recent trip to Kota Bharu. We went there so many times partly because I love the food there, I love the variety, it is not too far from downtown Kota Bharu, and as it offers us the chance to try different types of packed items, we could buy them to go, when we make excursions out of Kota Bharu.

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
