Pantai Cahaya Bulan, Kota Bharu (1 January 2007)
Pantai Cahaya Bulan (GPS: 6.19623, 102.27364) is the main beach in
Kota Bharu, Kelantan. It is a wide expense of sand facing the South China Sea.
The name Pantai Cahaya Bulan means "moonlight beach". It was originally called Pantai Cinta Berahi, or "Beach of Lustful (some translate that as passionate) Love". Unfortunately, the original, colourful name was deem an assault to the sensibility of the locals, and so it was given a new name that is less suggestive.
The beach was constantly eroded by the surf. To prevent further erosion, rocks are placed along the shore to act as wave breakers. Further inland are beach stalls selling food and refreshments.
