Sungai Pengkalan Nangka (30 April, 2017)
Sungai Pengkalan Nangka is a river in Kelantan. It is the main river that flows through the district of Jajahan Tumpat. The river is canalised as it nears the sea. In the old days, it served as a vital source of fresh water, enabling settlements to be established on its banks, including Siamese villages. As a result, we can se a number of Thai Buddhist temples that are located in the vicinity of this river.
Sungai Pengkalan Nangka empties into the South China Sea between Tumpat town and Pantai Seri Tujuh. To prevent flooding of the lowlands, sluice gates were built on the river, off Jalan Masjid Mukim Tujoh.
