Masjid Ismail Petra, Tanah Merah, Kelantan (2 May 2023)
Masjid Ismail Petra (GPS: 5.80843, 102.14542) is the main mosque in Tanah Merah, Kelantan. It is located on Jalan Ismail Petra, which is also Federal Route 259, a short distance from the Tanah Merah Railway Station. The mosque has a prayer hall topped with a gilded onion dome. There are minarets and towers likewise topped with gilded onion domes.
Masjid Ismail Petra dates to 1970. The foundation stone was laid by the late Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj, who was the first Prime Minister of Malaysia, on 24 April 1969. The mosque was opened by Tengku Ismail Petra on 17 May 1970.
