Wat Pikulthong วัดพิกูลทอง

(GPS: 6.18251, 102.16755) is a Thai Buddhist temple in
Jajahan Tumpat, Kelantan. It is located at Kampung Terbok, a short distance from
Wat Cheng Buddhavas.
If each temple in Tumpat is named after its most discerning attribute, then Wat Pikulthong is the Temple of the Standing Buddha. Indeed this temple has the tallest standing Buddha statue in Kelantan. Called Buddhalila, the 60-meter-tall Great Standing Buddha of Wat Pikulthong took ten years to finish.
Wat Pikulthong also holds the distinction of being the first Thai Buddhist temple in Kelantan to receive the Royal Kathin robes from the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, presented to its chief abbot Pra Vichan Vutikitun in November, 2008. To qualify for this very prestigious merit-making ceremony, a temple need to have at least five resident monks during the Buddhist Lent period. Even the then Kelantan Menteri Besar, the late Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, attended the event to honour the local Siamese community.
