Wakaf Bharu is a town and subdistrict in
Jajahan Tumpat,
Kelantan. It is located on the western bank of the
Sungai Kelantan directly across from
Kota Bharu. The
Sultan Yahya Petra Bridge links Wakaf Bharu with Kota Bharu across the river. The neighbourhood on the Wakaf Bharu side of the bridge is
Pasir Pekan.
The name Wakaf Bharu means "new endowment". Although more than 90 percent of the people in Wakaf Bharu are Malays, it also has a church. There is also a train station at Wakaf Bharu for the Tumpat-Gemas Railway line.
