KTM Electric Train Service (ETS) is an inter-city train service between Kuala Lumpur and cities in Malaysia. As of July 2015, the service has been extended to Padang Besar Railway Station. This is a major undertaking for Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad which sees not only the electrification of the tracks, but also the construction of all 47 stations along the route from Padang Besar to Gemas. This sector was completed in 2015

Construction of the final stretch of electrification, from Gemas to Johor Bahru, started in January 2018, and is expected to be operational in 2022.

Updates on the ETS Service

7 May 2016
An ETS train travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Ipoh was involved in a crash with an Express Rakyat train travelling from Butterworth to Johor Bahru. As a result, the KTM Komuter service between Rawang Railway Station and Tanjung Malim Railway Station is cancelled while ETS services will end at the Rawang Railway Station, and passengers are ferried by bus on their onward journey. At time of writing, KTMB is still investigating the incident.

May 2015: The ETS Service is expected to reach the Butterworth Railway Station by June 2015, according to KTM chairman Datuk Nawawi Ahmad, saying the journey between Kuala Lumpur and Penang will be 3 hours.1

About this website

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
