Duta Grand Hyatt, Kuala Lumpur

Duta Grand Hyatt (GPS: 3.15712, 101.70363) is a stalled development project in Kuala Lumpur. It is located at the junction of Jalan Ampang with Jalan Sultan Ismail. The project began in 1994, but has stalled since the 1998 Asian economic crises, and even today, seems a forlorn shadow on the otherwise vibrant downtown area of the city. According to Business Times1, The Grand Duta Hyatt is supposed to be a 52-storey skyscraper. The contact was given to Kuala Lumpur Landmark Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Olympia Industries Bhd, and the development was supposed to cost RM570 million. Construction came to a stop in July 1998. There was an attempt to revive it in 2003, but it never reached a stage when construction resume. When construction stopped, the building had reached a height of the 29th floor. Since then, the Hyatt Hotel was no longer associated with the project.
