Galeria Sri Perdana, Kuala Lumpur (18 July, 2009)
Galeria Sri Perdana (GPS: 2.95311, 101.68932) is a memorial preserving the former official residence of the Prime Minister of Malaysia in
Kuala Lumpur. It is located along Jalan Terengganu off
Jalan Damansara in
Bukit Persekutuan.
Galeria Sri Perdana served as the residence of Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad from 23 August, 1983 to 18 October, 1999, when his official residence relocated to the
Sri Perdana Complex in
Putrajaya.
After Tun Dr Mahathir vacated the building, it was unused until 2003, when the subsequent prime minister opened it as Galeria Sri Perdana on 20 December, to showcase the memorabilia of his predecessor. Visitors are allowed to explore the various rooms of the residence, to get a feel of the residence of Malaysia's fourth prime ministers. Photographs and personal belongings of Tun Mahathir continue to grace the various rooms of Galeria Sri Perdana. Of interest includes the workshop where Dr Mahathir indulge in woodworking.
