Equatorial Plaza (GPS: 3.15297, 101.70977) is a 52-storey skyscraper built on the site of the former Hotel Equatorial Kuala Lumpur. It has its front to Jalan Sultan Ismail and its back to Jalan Perak. The building has a lobby, a 3-storey hotel facility (level 1-3), 22 storeys of office units (levels 4-25), 2-storey recreational facilities (levels 26 & 27), 22 storeys of hotel (levels 28-49), a private club (level 490 and a sky lounge at level 50. The building is designed by GDP Architects Sdn Bhd and the main contractor is Loh Brothers Demolition Contractor Sdn Bhd. At time of writing (June 2017), the building is still under construction.
The former Hotel Equatorial Building was one the oldest buildings along Jalan Sultan Ismail. The 18-storey 273-room hotel which first opened in 1973 held a party on its last day of operations on 31 March, 2012, before it was closed for demolition.
