My wife and I enjoyed the great pleasure of staying at Hotel Stripes Kuala Lumpur on 14-16 June, 2017. It is the latest hotel in Marriott Hotel International's Autograph Collection, a line of chic hotels that offer accommodation of outstanding character. During our stay, the hotel has just opened for less than half a year, so almost everything is still brand new.
The hotel offers full valet service, so upon our arrival, we just need to leave our car key with the valet and were warmly ushered indoors. Our accommodation here is the Studio Room, which is a spacious 38 square meter room with views towards Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman.
Once we have settled in, we were invited to the hotel's French restaurant, Brasserie 25, to enjoy a French-style afternoon tea. Called Le Goûter, it was an opportunity to indulge in fine pastries while we sip tea or coffee. My wife had Chamomile Tea while I had a Cappuccino. The pastries were a delicious treat.
After Le Goûter, we did a hotel tour with Miss Cara Lee, the Communications Executive, and were shown the various rooms and facilities of the hotel. We visited the gym and the infinity pool. From the pool side, we can catch a panoramic view of the Kuala Lumpur skyline, along with the KL Tower right in front of us.
Dinner was à la carte at Brasserie 25. It was a four-course affair comprising a cold starter (entrée froide), a warm starter (entrée chaude), a main dish (plat principal) and a dessert (les gourmandises). I had the Terrine (foie gras terrine with toasted bioche and fig jam), the Escargot (baked Burgundy escargots with garlic herb butter), the Confit de Canard (duck confit with truffle mashed potato and Mesclun salad) and Le Soufflé au Grand Marnier, while my wife had the Salade de Tomates (cherry and vine-ripen tomatoes and feta cheese with vanilla scented vinaigrette), the Bouillabaisse (traditional Provençal fish soup), the Cabillaud and the Crème Brûlée. It was a marvelous meal, and after dinner, we retired to the rooftop pool side, to enjoy the wonderful view of the Kuala Lumpur skyline at night.
The next morning, we had our breakfast buffet style at The Snug, the cafe on the 2nd floor of the hotel. It offers an excellent selection of breakfast items from Western to Oriental.
Lunch was once again at Brasserie 25, but even then, we were still full from the wonderful buffet breakfast of the morning. For lunch I had the Saumon Fumé (smoked salmon with ice lettuce and pommery dressing), the Foie Gras Poêlé (pan-seared foie gras with warm onion marmalade and spice bread), and Poisson en Papillote (red snapper cooked in parchment packets with root vegetables), while my wife had the Salade Niçoise (Mesclun salad, tuna flakes, anchovies, black olives, hard-boiled egg, green bean and bell pepper), the Soupe a l'Oignon (French onion soup with croutons and cheese) and Fricassée de Poulet à l'Ancienne (creamy chicken fricasse with button mushroom and basmati rice), and we both shared a Crème Brûlée.
After dinner, I went out to do some exploring of Kuala Lumpur, while my wife stayed back to enjoy the confort of our room, which has a large high-definition television. It is so far the sharpest large-screen television set we have ever enjoyed at any hotel to date.
That evening, we returned to The Snug to enjoy the Ramadhan buffet. It is the first time that Hotel Stripes Kuala Lumpur is hosting this buffet, and the theme for this year is Festive Celebration. The buffet brings together all the best neighbourhood dishes that Jalan Kamunting is famous for, and needless to say, every item was exceptionally tasty.
Our 3-day stay at Hotel Stripes Kuala Lumpur passes so swiftly, and before we knew it, it was about time to leave. We did have a chance to take a dip at its infinity pool, and enjoyed ourselves very much there.
I want to thank Hotel Stripes Kuala Lumpur for this lovely stay, in particular, a big thank you to Mr Jeffrey Mong, the General Manager; Miss Samantha Wong, the Communications Manager; and Miss Cara Lee, the Communications Executive, and the friendly staff throughout the hotel. I also would like to thank Mr Wayne Lee, the General Manager of Vistana Penang Bukit Jambul and Miss Tracy Kee, the Director of Marketing and Communications, The Ritz-Carlton, Kuala Lumpur, for making the connections on my behalf.

Experiencing the hospitality of hotels in Kuala Lumpur
Over the years, we have had the privilege of complimentary stays at many hotels including a number of them in Kuala Lumpur. The stays provide us an opportunity to showcase the hotels to you. Listed here are the hotels we've stayed in Kuala Lumpur.
Dear visitor, thank you so much for reading this page. My name is Timothy Tye and my hobby is to find out about places, write about them and share the information with you on this website. I have been writing this site since 5 January 2003. Originally (from 2003 until 2009, the site was called AsiaExplorers. I changed the name to Penang Travel Tips in 2009, even though I describe more than just Penang but everywhere I go (I often need to tell people that "Penang Travel Tips" is not just information about Penang, but information written in Penang), especially places in Malaysia and Singapore, and in all the years since 2003, I have described over 20,000 places.
While I try my best to provide you information as accurate as I can get it to be, I do apologize for any errors and for outdated information which I am unaware. Nevertheless, I hope that what I have described here will be useful to you.
