Jalan Hang Lekiu is a minor road in downtown
Kuala Lumpur. It is a one-way street that runs from
Jalan Yap Ah Loy, at the intersection with
Jalan Tun Tan Siew Sin, to Jalan Bukit Nanas, at the intersection of
Jalan Gereja. In between, it is intersected by
Jalan Tun Perak.
Jalan Hang Lekiu was originally known as Klyne Street
1. It was named after the Klyne brothers, who were Eurasians of Dutch descent. The
Malacca-born John F. Klyne and F.C. Klyne made Kuala Lumpur their home. John had a career as a Surveyor. He was one of the founders of the Selangor Museum. His brother was a pharmacist. The street may have been named after either of them.
