Jalan Peel, Kuala Lumpur (May 2024)
Jalan Peel is a road in the southern part of
Kuala Lumpur. It connects
Jalan Tun Razak in the west with
Jalan Cheras in the east. In between it forms junctions with other roads including Jalan Keledek, Jalan Bayam, Jalan Shelley and Lorong Peel. Near the junction of Jalan Peel and Jalan Tun Razak, the
Kuala Lumpur-Putrajaya Expressway (E20) passes overhead while the SMART Tunnel passed underneath the road.
Jalan Peel was originally known as Peel Road. It was named after Sir William Peel
1, the Chief Secretary of the Federated Malay States.
Peel Avenue in Penang was also named after him.
In the past few years, since around 2010, Jalan Peel has seen rapid development. There is one hypermarket here, and a major shopping mall is also opening here in early 2016.
