Kafe Vietnam Express, Kuala Lumpur

Kafe Vietnam Express, Berjaya Times SquareKafe Vietnam Express, Berjaya Times Square (16 June, 2017)

Kafe Vietnam Express is a Vietnamese restaurant in Kuala Lumpur. It has an outlet on the East Wing of Berjaya Times Square. The restaurant was established by a Vietnamese lady from Ho Chi Minh City. She is married to a Malaysian, and the family decided to start this restaurant to showcase Vietnamese cuisine.

The signature item at Kafe Vietnam Express is Lau Vit Nau Chao, which is Vietnamese Duck Hot Pot. This is a duck "steamboat" with yam and a broth of fermented bean paste. Other ingredients in this hot pot include kangkong and mustard green. The hot pot is taken with bee hoon.

My wife and I had the pleasure of visiting Kafe Vietnam Express on 16 June, 2017, where we were treated to the Lau Vit Nau Chao. I have never tried it before, and I love it very much. And we enjoyed the soup so much, we finished all of it (I didn't think we would, considering it was quite a substantial pot).

In addition to the Vietnamese duck hot pot, Kafe Vietnam Express also has the usual array of Vietnamese dishes, such as the Phở (Vietnamese beef koay teow), the Gỏi Cuốn (Vietnamese springroll) and the Bánh Xèo (Vietnamese pancake). During our visit, we also had a plate of the springrolls and the pancake, after which, we felt incredibly full!

As far as I am concerned, a meal of Vietnamese cuisine would not be complete without Vietnamese coffee. This is drip coffee or café filtre which brewed by allowing hot water to percolate through a stainless still percolator. The result is a strong black coffee that is usually drank with milk.

It was a wonderful lunch we had at Kafe Vietnam Express. Having tasted the Vietnamese duck hot pot, I am excited to tell people about it, so that they too have a chance to try out this unusual dish.

About this website

Dear visitor, thank you so much for reading this page. My name is Timothy Tye and my hobby is to find out about places, write about them and share the information with you on this website. I have been writing this site since 5 January 2003. Originally (from 2003 until 2009, the site was called AsiaExplorers. I changed the name to Penang Travel Tips in 2009, even though I describe more than just Penang but everywhere I go (I often need to tell people that "Penang Travel Tips" is not just information about Penang, but information written in Penang), especially places in Malaysia and Singapore, and in all the years since 2003, I have described over 20,000 places.

While I try my best to provide you information as accurate as I can get it to be, I do apologize for any errors and for outdated information which I am unaware. Nevertheless, I hope that what I have described here will be useful to you.
