Restoran Yu Ai Seafood Noodle, Segambut, Kuala Lumpur (9 August, 2019)
Restoran Yu Ai (GPS: 3.184712, 101.676353) is a coffee shop in Segambut, Kuala Lumpur, famous for its seafood noodle. The main shop is at Jalan Segambut Utara, but it also has a branch in Petaling Jaya.
The first time my wife and I visited Restoran Yu Ai was on a hot Sunday afternoon, on 26 September, 2004. We had followed our friends for a weekend trip to Kuala Lumpur, and on our way out of KL, we stopped here for lunch. The seafood noodle was extremely spicy, and yet so delicious, that I remember it over the last 15 years. However, we do not know where it was, so in my subsequent visits to Kuala Lumpur, I was unable to revisit this shop.
Then this year, when we were again in Kuala Lumpur, and was on our way up to Ipoh, I googled for "Segamat Seafood Noodle", and re-discovered this shop. Maybe a lot has changed in the past 15 years, but a lot has still remained the same. I could vaguely recall sitting in an open-air stall and it was very hot. Now that I returned, better prepared to document my experience, I saw that patrons sit under canopy sheds set up in the back alley of the coffee shop. Customers don't actually dine in the shop, but right here in the back lane.
We found a place to park on Persiaran Segambut Utara, then crossed the road to the coffee shop. We walked right through the shop to reach the sitting area in the back lane.
Here's the menu, as of August, 2019
Restoran Yu Ai Menu (9 August, 2019)
On the front side of the menu (above) is what I was looking for, the seafood curry. It comes with prawns, slices of fish, oysters, cuttlefish and clams. The big bowl is priced at RM28 while the small is RM25. Also available is tomyam soup and clear soup. I opted for the seafood curry (big) while my wife chose clear soup (big).

Also available are side dishes such as Thai-style tofu and fried fish cake, but we do not have the stomach for anything else after the big bowl of noodle soup. For beverages, we ordered Chrysanthemum.

The dining area is under a shed or tent (above). The place can get quite hot especially during mid day. I see that many of the customers park at the car park next to the shop.
Finally, my big bowl of curry seafood noodle arrived. Take a look.

If you imagine it to be as good as it looked, you were right. It was hot, it was spicy, and it was so good. A taste of this soup brought back memories of having missed it for 15 years.
My wife's clear soup seafood noodle looked just as good, although I didn't actually taste it, but I imagine it to be as good as mine. I can say that the restaurant is not sparing in the amount of seafood. In fact, I struggled a bit to finish my big bowl. But it was very satisfying, and already I am longing to return if I should make another trip to Kuala Lumpur.
Here I am with both bowls of noodles. (9 August, 2019)

Dear visitor, thank you so much for reading this page. My name is Timothy Tye and my hobby is to find out about places, write about them and share the information with you on this website. I have been writing this site since 5 January 2003. Originally (from 2003 until 2009, the site was called AsiaExplorers. I changed the name to Penang Travel Tips in 2009, even though I describe more than just Penang but everywhere I go (I often need to tell people that "Penang Travel Tips" is not just information about Penang, but information written in Penang), especially places in Malaysia and Singapore, and in all the years since 2003, I have described over 20,000 places.
While I try my best to provide you information as accurate as I can get it to be, I do apologize for any errors and for outdated information which I am unaware. Nevertheless, I hope that what I have described here will be useful to you.
