SK Sri Dhandayuthapani (GPS: 3.17597, 101.68786) is a primary school at Batu 2½ Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah (Jalan Ipoh) in Kuala Lumpur. The school was established in 1963 by the Chettiar Association Foundation with part funding from the government. It was built on land belonging to the Chettiar association.
The initial idea was to set up a Tamil school, but the move was rejected by the government, so instead the school was named the Ipoh Road English School. It was not long before the school had a name change, to Chettiar School. However the name was rejected by the government on the basis that the name of an ethnic group cannot be used for a school. For that reason, the school was renamed again, to Sri Thandayuthapani English School, after one of the Hindu deities. Before long, the name changed one more time, to Sekolah Kebangsaan Sri Dhandayuthapani, or SKSD, and remains as such to this day.
Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
