The church has services in English and Tamil as well as in Nepali, Telegu and Sinhalese. As of April, 2015, it is led by Reverend Justin Clarance. This is one of the two Tamil-speaking Methodist congregations within Kuala Lumpur, the other being Tamil Methodist Church Sentul.
The Tamil Methodist Church Brickfields traces its roots as far back as 1896, when Tamil Christians began church-planting activity in Kuala Lumpur, resulting in the founding of the Tamil Methodist Church on 18 June, 1897. In the very beginning, the English-speaking, Tamil-speaking and Chinese-speaking congregations were housed within a single location, initially at Batu Road (present-day Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman). Over the decades, the church premise has relocated to various places in Kuala Lumpur, including Jawa Street (present-day Jalan Tun Perak) and Malacca Street (Jalan Melaka) in the city centre.
The present location of the Tamil Methodist Church in Brickfields goes back to 1960, when the one-acre site on Jalan Sultan Abdul Samad was obtained. The Brickfields Sanctuary was dedicated in 1961.

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
