Wisma Fui Chiu (GPS: 3.14563, 101.69741) is a 4-storey commercial property in the Chinatown of Kuala Lumpur. Built in 1992, it is at the corner of Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock with Jalan Petaling. It belongs to a Hakka clan association that was founded by Kapitan Cina Yap Ah Loy, who was credited with founding Kuala Lumpur.
The name Fui Chiu 惠州 (Pinyin: Huìzhōu) refers to the city in Guangdong Province from where the forefathers of the clansmen originate.
Despite its glorious past, Wisma Fui Chiu seems to be in a state of disused, as of March, 2015. Only the topmost floors are being used by the clan association. According to a report in The Star, the building is in a state of neglect because the owners are in a legal tussle with the lessee.1
Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
