AEON Mall Bandaraya MelakaAEON Bandaraya Melaka Shopping Centre (GPS: 2.21505, 102.24606) is a huge shopping mall in Malacca. It is located along Jalan Legenda in Bachang, Peringgit, off Jalan Tun Razak, next to Tesco Melaka. The mall was built at a cost of RM300 million. It opens to the public on 15 December, 2009.
The anchor tenant of AEON Bandaraya Melaka Shopping Centre is the Jusco Department Store. This will be the second Jusco Store in Malacca after the one along Lebuh Ayer Keroh.
15 Dec 2009 Update
A blast took place at AEON Bandaraya Melaka just three days before its grand opening, killing one person and injuring sixteen. A gas leak is blamed for the explosion. Firemen from the Kubu station rushed to the scene upon receiving a distress call. The blast created a 2-meter wide hole in the wall. It also shattered glass and caused debris to fly in the 25-meter radius. It caused the opening of the mall to be shelved.
