Durian Tunggal is a small town in the Alor Gajah District of Malacca. Durian Tunggal, whose name means "lone durian tree", is located almost at the very centre of Malacca State. The North-South Expressway passes a short distance to the north of it. Villages and residential estates in the vicinity include Taman Tunggal, Kampung Padang Keladi, Kampung Padang Kerbau, Kampung Ayer Resam, Taman Seri Siantan, Kampung Tengah, Kampung Pulau and Kampung Bukit Balai.

Durian Tunggal is near the Ayer Keroh Interchange (Exit 231). The Durian Tunggal Recreational Lake is a minor tourist attraction in the area. There is more to see in neighbouring Ayer Keroh. The tourist attractions of Ayer Keroh are all located along the Ayer Keroh Highway (Route M29), between the Ayer Keroh Interchange and Malacca Town. They include Mini Malaysia, Mini Asean, Ayer Keroh Lake, Malacca Zoo, Malacca Butterfly & Reptile Sanctuary, Dataran Sejarah, Snake Park, Fish World, Expo Centre, Museum of Aborigines, Orang Asli Village, Crocodile Farm, and Ayer Keroh Recreational Forest. There are also several resorts in the area including Ayer Keroh Country Resort, Puteri Resort, Malacca Country Resort, Malacca Village Park Plaza Resort and Ayer Keroh d'Village.
