Melaka Tengah, or Central Malacca, is one of the three districts of the State of Malacca. This is the most populous district of the state, and also the location of Malacca Town, the state as well as district capital. It covers 314 sq km and has a population of 450,000 (2011 estimate).
The townships in Melaka Tengah includes Malacca Town, Bukit Baru, Ayer Keroh, Ayer Molek, Batu Berendam and Bandar Hilir. The district of Melaka Tengah, as its name suggest is located at the centre of the state, facing the Straits of Malacca.
