Established in 1958, the All Souls' Church was originally called the Cameron Highlands Church. It was founded by missionaries from the Church of St John the Divine in Ipoh. Church leaders including the vicar and other expatriate believers often go up to Cameron Highlands to conduct church services for the believers there. Before the present church building was built, services were held the Cameron Highlands Hotel (now the Cameron Highlands Resort) and Slim School (now known as Kem Slim) In those days, a sizable proportion of the believers were mostly expatriates such as British colonial/military officers and planters.
The All Souls' Church was built on what was formerly military ground - part of presently Kem Slim. There was a Nissen hut on that spot that was probably a military barrack. With funding coming from the European planters, construction of the church building began in 1958, and it was completed in September of the same year. The church was consecrated on 30 April, 1959, by the Right Reverend Bishop H.W. Baines, who was the Anglican Bishop of Singapore and Malaya. The name All Souls' Church was chosen to commemorate those who perished in the two World Wars.
The demographics of believers at All Souls' Church evolved over the decades. With Independence, there is a departure of the European worshippers, with the first Malaysian clergy to being Reverend Moses Elisha Ponniah, from the Emmanuel Church in Tapah. As of January 2015, the church is under the leadership of Reverend James Ming Sabaran.

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
