Jim Thompson Cottage (GPS: 4.49272, 101.37754) is a beautiful timber-framed cottage in the mock Tudor style, located on a hill overlooking
Tanah Rata, in
Cameron Highlands. The bungalow is actually called
Moonlight Bungalow, but it got its other name, thanks to the famous Silk King of Thailand, Jim Thompson, who once stayed there. On the evening of 26 March, 1967, Thompson is believed to have gone for a walk on Jungle Trek Number 4, never to return, cementing the bungalow's place in history.
Moonlight Bungalow is located at the end of Jalan Kamunting, the winding hill road that leads up from the main road. Today guests may book to stay at Moonlight Bungalow as well as the nearby
Sunlight Bungalow.
Jim Thompson's House in Bangkok, noted for its value as a showcase of Thai architecture, has been preserved as a heritage site.
