Sungai Bertam flowing though the Sultan Ahmad Shah Golf Club
(2 May, 2016)
Sungai Bertam is the main river that flows through
Cameron Highlands. It meanders as a small mountain stream through
Brinchang, cutting across the Sultan Ahmad Shah Golf Club. As it passes through
Tanah Rata, Sungai Bertam gathers strengh. It flows right through the heart of Tanah Rata, with Persiaran Dayang Endah following in its course. Between the north and south of Tanah Rata, Sungai Bertam passes through two cataracts, namely Parit Falls and Robinson Falls.
After cutting across the forested area south of Robinson Falls, Sungai Bertam reemerges at the Robinson Falls Hydroelectric Station. From there, it continues its course though terraced farmland west of Boh's Fairley Tea Plantations.
As Sungai Bertam flows through the farming village of Habu, it begins to widen substantially. In front of the Lakehouse hotel, the river looks more like a lake. This lake is to narrow once again as the river approaches Ringlet. Here the river forks into two branches. The west branch continues into Ringlet and is obscured by farmland. The east branch continues into Bertam Valley, a large agricultural area. Federal Route 102 follows the course of Sungai Bertam here, until it flows into Sungai Telum.
