Jalan Bandar Timah is a street in downtown Ipoh, Perak. It is one of the main streets in town. Jalan Bandar Timah is today a one-way street. Traffic enters at Persiaran Bijeh Timah in the south, and emerges at Jalan Tun Sambanthan in the north, across from Hala Timah. Hala Timah was once part of Jalan Bandar Timah. It was given the name Hala Timah in around 2016, for the stretch where traffic is from the opposing direction. Jalan Bandar Timah intersects with Persiaran Bijeh Timah, Jalan Koo Chong Kong, Jalan Othman Talib, Jalan Sultan Iskandar, Lorong Market, Jalan Market, Concubine Lane, Jalan Panglima and Lorong Hale.
Jalan Bandar Timah was originally known as Leech Street. It was named after J.M.B. Leech, the District Officer of Kinta. That name is transliterated into Chinese as 列治街 and pronounced in Cantonese as Lit Zi Gaai.
Jalan Bandar Timah is one of the major eating streets in Ipoh. There are a few coffee shops here that do very good business especially during lunch time.
Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
