Jalan Dato Sagor (3 May, 2016)
Jalan Dato Sagor is a minor road in the
Ipoh, Perak. It is today a one-way road with traffic entering from
Jalan Panglima Bukit Gantang Wahab in the west, and exiting to
Jalan Sultan Yusuf, across from
Jalan Market, in the east.
Jalan Dato Sagor was formerly known as Post Office Road, after the General Post Office, which has since relocated. The road was renamed after 19th century Perak chieftain of Bugis descent, Dato' Sagor Ngah Kamdin, who was in collusion with Dato' Maharaja Lela in the murder of JWW Birch, and was sentenced to death by hanging on 20 January, 1877.
