Jalan Laxamana is one of the roads in the New Town of Ipoh, Perak. It is one of the few roads in the older part of Ipoh which - if I am not mistaken - does not experience a name change, since it was already Laxamana Road when it was laid out during the founding of New Town, albeit the spelling does not conform to present spelling of "laksamana". Today it is one of the main commercial streets in the city centre. Jalan Laxamana runs roughly north-south, from Jalan Veerasamy in the north to Jalan Sultan Iskandar in the south. Roads forming junctions and intersections to it include Jalan Toh Puan Chah, Jalan Sultan Idris Shah, Jalan Foo Choo Choon, and Tingkat Pasar.
Jalan Laxamana has a rather complicated traffic system. It has two-way traffic between Jalan Veerasamy and Jalan Toh Puan Chah. It has one-way traffic from Jalan Toh Puan Chah to Jalan Sultan Idris Shah. Between Jalan Sultan Idris Shah to Jalan Foo Choo Choon, it has an inverted traffic flow, with northbound traffic on the right side of the road instead of the usual left. From Jalan Foo Choo Choon to Tingkat Pasar, traffic flow is one way southbound while from Jalan Sultan Iskandar, it is northbound to Tingkat Pasar.
Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
