Japanese Counter-Espionage Headquarters, Ipoh (19 August, 2006)
Japanese Counter Espionage Headquarters (GPS: 4.59942, 101.08599) is where, during the Second World War, the Japanese interrogated people whom they suspected of espionage. That dreaded place is an unassuming corner house on
Jalan Datuk Yeoh Cheng Lee, in
Ipoh, Perak.
Among the resistance fighters who were detained and quite likely tortured here included Tan Chong Tee and
Lim Bo Seng.
As of 2014, the building stops a roof sheltering its porch. At the gate are the numbers "007" in reflection of the historical use of the building.
