Masjid Sultan Idris Shah II, Ipoh (9 November, 2015)
Masjid Sultan Idris Shah II (GPS: 4.59617, 101.07578) is the state mosque of Perak. It is located in downtown Ipoh, occupying the city block bounded on the north side by Jalan Dato Sagor and the south side by Jalan Sultan Iskandar, on which the main entrance is located.
Construction of Masjid Sultan Idris Shah II began on 16 May, 1966. However, the idea to build it goes back much earlier to 1951, when it was hatched by the Menteri Besar, Orang Kaya-Kaya Panglima Bukit Gantang Seri Amar Diraja Abdul Wahab. The late Tun Abdul Razak, second Prime Minister of Malaysia, laid the foundation stone of the mosque on 27 October, 1967. Masjid Sultan Idris Shah II was completed on 26 August, 1968 at a cost of RM1.84 million.
