Restoran Haji Yahya (GPS: 4.59434, 101.08242) is a Malay restaurant in Ipoh, Perak. Said to have been established in 1973, it is located on Jalan Datuk Onn Jaafar, at the junction with Tingkat Pasar. The restaurant is very popular with the local Malay community, partly because it offers a huge variety of dishes, taken with rice.
I stumbled upon Restoran Haji Yahya when I was visiting Ipoh on 10 March, 2018. Seeing that it is crowded with lunch time diners, we decided to give it a try. I enjoyed the food, but discovered that it was very expensive by any standard. Even the drinks were expensive (Lemon Madu, for example, is priced at RM4). The dishes are also equally expensive. A piece of chicken went for RM4, and if you choose free-range chicken (ayam kampung), the price per piece was RM8. Although my wife and I ordered just a few items, our bill came to RM29.50.

Dear visitor, thank you so much for reading this page. My name is Timothy Tye and my hobby is to find out about places, write about them and share the information with you on this website. I have been writing this site since 5 January 2003. Originally (from 2003 until 2009, the site was called AsiaExplorers. I changed the name to Penang Travel Tips in 2009, even though I describe more than just Penang but everywhere I go (I often need to tell people that "Penang Travel Tips" is not just information about Penang, but information written in Penang), especially places in Malaysia and Singapore, and in all the years since 2003, I have described over 20,000 places.
While I try my best to provide you information as accurate as I can get it to be, I do apologize for any errors and for outdated information which I am unaware. Nevertheless, I hope that what I have described here will be useful to you.
