Japanese Carbide Chimney (GPS: 4.34777, 101.12408) is the remains of a Japanese Occupation-era ammunition factory in
Malim Nawar, Perak. Located in Kampong Tanjong Bangkong, the chimney dates from the construction of the factory in 1943.
1. The factory was built by the Nippon Nitrogen Kaisha to supply the Japanese military with explosives. At one time, it used to employ 400 workers, mostly locals from the area. Today the chimney is all that is left of the factory, and they stand incongruously within the Malay
kampong
